On Jan. 21, I won a auction of China airmail C1-C5 sheets on Delcampe.
http://www.delcampe.net/item.php?id...6dc59c5656d6

The seller does not accept PayPal only Skrill, so I had posted an advertisement on another stamp forum asked a help to pay the order if whom use Skrill as I often see European members on there.

On Jan. 22 morning, I registered a Skrill account and my credit card worked well on there to send a full payment including shipping cost by registered mail.

This seller offered to me quickly more items directly via email, I replied him to finish the deal first and I will buy some items but via PayPal only, as my credit card and Skrill are all have the limits that can not afford his offers. He teached me how to increase the limit on Skrill, I replied him that I do not want to use Skrill in the futher, just registered one to pay him in time. Now I feel I was so lucky.

In the past days, I sent email to him everyday to ask when will he send out my sheets and the registered number of the shipping, no reply from him.

Today I found a buyer leaved many negative comments to this seller, looks like this buyer had a similar experience with me. And today, this seller changed his user name on Delcampe, and became invalid his Skrill account on Delcampe, even there is a item still for auction in his store.

I am glad this did not involve others in, if I got a help from member there to send payment via Skrill, I can not imagine how bad and how confusion the status will be. I was so imprudent to ask this help, sorry.

I have contacted my bank to stop this payment this forenoon, but I know it is too late, and the Skrill never return payment to sender, only the receiver, but this receiver in my case is a 99.99% swindler.

I have contacted Delcampe and wait for the reply, hope they can do something as the swindle happened on there, good luck to me.

Delcampe shows the location of this seller is Murrieta, CA 92562, United States, with a name of Westerner. Delcampe shows his full name and his full address, but I guess the name and the address are identity theft by this seller.

I just leaved him a negative comment and warning other Delcampe members be carefull with this seller, and I used an English word that I never used before, only heard from movie. Now I feel better.

All people who read this must be more carefuller when you send money to the stranger.

I also had a seller refuse payment from paypal and wanted to use skrill. I would not open a skrill account and transaction was closed. Not saying skrill is no good but they want to much information for a account.

Basically, if a seller will not accept paypal be very careful as this is a red flag sometimes. It is the most secured way to pay and protects both you and the seller.

I have asked a refund on Skrill, the Skrill shown me the transaction has been completed, cao not get a refund. This accord with their user agreement, while I prepared to register my Skrill account I had read this. BUT, there is a option for disputed transaction under the refund result, that need me to tell the details of disputed transaction and the receiver's Skrill account, I filled out them and sent, Skrill shown me to wait for the result. I did not find this part in the user agreement, looks like I still have the chance.

Thanks for your story, ZhangCheng. I'm sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately there are cheaters out there and we get a hard lesson. I have learned this lesson too but not this seller and not with Delcampe.

But I did also have a seller on Delcampe who said he would only use Skrill but my bank refused to link to Skrill. That told me everything I wanted to know about Skrill and will never use them. The seller then allowed me to use PayPal and the transaction was completed without problems.

Karen

This should be a big clue as to where "skrill" is heading. Fly by night operation, of course bad sellers will flock to this.

Basically once you pay through "skrill" your money is gone and you do not have a recourse to get it back.

I think the seller who use Skrill are not necessarily all bad. Skrill charges significantly lower fees than Paypal so I'm sure that's why a lot of Delcampe sellers like it. I suspect a lot of transactions with them go through without problems or they'd be out of business already.

I was under the impression that buyers do not need to register an account just as they do not need to register with paypal to make purchases. Am I incorrect?
I was looking into this alternative as paypal is the furthest thing from a walk in the park to deal with as a company, and there's no shortage of angry users there. Is there no good service around at all?

I didn't think the questions they asked were any different from those asked by anyone else you buy from online. Address, email address, credit card number.

Just as with Paypal, buyers must link a credit card or a bank transfer to Skrill. Bank transfers have a $35 fee at my bank so that's not realistic for my buying level.

One thing they do that I haven't encountered previously is to ask for a verification number via text messaging. I haven't had a reason to learn how to text so I asked them if I could send it by other means. They refused.

I suppose I could have learned how to text, but why? Hardly anyone else I know texts either so I'd have no one to text with but Skrill!

...now we and other Delcampe members can not see his feedback anymore, the specific English word I used in the feedback for this swindler is "coward", not other worse swearwords.

Let us keep moving!

I am so sorry about your loss, and I'm afraid many of us have learned about the riskiness of Skrill "on your dime", so to speak. (meaning: that you paid for our education about Skrill.) When I first read your posts, I thought the seller must be in Europe, since PayPal isn't as widely accepted there, and that Skrill (formerly Moneybookers) was easier to set up there. However, it's probably a warning to all of us that if a US-based seller insists on using Skrill, and does not use PayPal, that there's potentially a problem.

Murrieta, CA is about 50-60 miles from me. Do you think that's the correct location of this seller, or is that location of the person whose ID was stolen? If he's here, then I wonder if he has travelled in any philatelic circles in the area?

Thanks Dave, I like for your "so to speak".

About the address he must stolen it and used it to do his professional fraud.

Do not check and research this, if the money I lost was big, I will call my local police to do this, and they will contact Interpol to do the criminal investigation. In the past years, the China and USA police had a lot of successful cooperation of investigating crimes, these reports often can be seen on the newspaper and TV.

By the way, I have earned more money luckly these days, it has offseted my lost. And I just bought a nice set of block 4 of China stamps at a good price a few hours ago, now I am very happy.

Let us keep moving.

Many thanks Stepahead.

I am not a sage absolutely, just no other way to do only let go.

If this swindle happend in my locality, I will call police absolutely, if I meet this swindle personally in the street I will arrest him and I hope he will resist.

But, it is dangerous and not worth for USA local helper who want to investigate this for me, if there are any accident I will condemn myself for a lifetime.

This swindler will get his divine punishment, just let him have a happy time for a few days.

Well, I will just be more carefuller in the future from this, and I hope others will too.

Take care all of you.
