I have noticed a lot of people are using the 30 day listing option on ebay.

I have a Top-rated sellers status.

Was wondering the position the listing went to(near the front or a long way back) for a 30 day listing compared to a 7 day listing?

Most of our 7 day listings are on the 1st 3 to 4 pages. Would this be the same for a 30 day listing?

KGV

Well, you could experiment with 10 low-value listings and see (bookmark them for easy reference down the line).

Where the listing appears would be determined by how the viewer chose to sort the listings.

I have the "Time: ending soonest" as my default sort so 30-day listings won't come to my attention until a day or two before they end.

Hi tomiseksj.

What does your search do to "buy it now" listings that start off the the 30 day option?

But 30 day auction fees on the more expensive items on .com.au would equal a .com listing cost for 7 days but as you say people will search for ending soonest listings.

I am starting to have some concerns about 30 day listing as some areas we sell as over 70% of our listings sell in 7 days now I think of it.

But some of the slower to sell marketing approaches that we have like trying to develop personalized stamps would still be on the front page because we are basically the only sellers in this area.

This is being a very good issue to think out here!

When sorted by "ending soonest", they are listed along with the auction listings based upon their ending times. The third item shown (Minnesota duck stamp) in the screen shot below was originally posted on January 3rd -- 30 days before it made it to the 1st screen.

You might want to experiment by setting your sort on each of the available options to determine where your 30-day listings will appear under each of different sort options that buyers might choose.

The BIN listings sell at a lower percentage than auctions. Most of the traffic is within the last 72 hours of both. The 30 day BIN listings sit for 27 days and then you are leaving out customers who like bidding. I use the BIN 30 day to offer items that are unique. I hope people will come to look at them and check out the rest. I also have 2 accounts that I sell from. The first offers items of $10.00 and higher with tracked shipping. The second is for lower priced items (usually 99 cent start) with 99 cent regular first class shipping.

In fact, I have some sellers bookmarked with the "Auctions only" tab selected, so for those sellers, I wouldn't even see anything new posted in the Buy It Now section. So often there is little movement in the Buy It Now section so I only want to check the stuff that pops up for auction.

Sadly we had to pack up shop on ebay.com. They made all our listing impossible to find. They also made it nearly impossible for me to list. They also took all our privileges from us as well. Our sale went from 700 lots a month to nothing per month. The end of us on .com was July last year. It was a real kick in the backside at the time.

So our listing cost on .com that was 10c turned into ebay .com.au auction listing cost of 50c and this add cost was impossible to work with so we went to a BIN listing with a cost of 20c. The same on .com is 5c.

Most of our buyers are from Australia and most know that sellers can only use the BIN listing option because of cost.

How I wish that we were still with .com It was the best 18 months of selling we had.

But when we changed over to .com.au they had just dropped the gallery image cost so as to make a auction listing cost of $1.25 to drop to 50c. The equal cost on .com listing is 10c.

We live in the hope here in Australia that ebay.com.au will mature and make selling stamps here in Australia the same as in the USA's ebay.

Our Australia ebay is tired in with most of the other Pacific rim countries but I do not think that too many of these people use computers let alone shop on ebay.

Our ebay is based in Malaysia.

KGV Collector, did you have a store on ebay.com? My BIN price is 20 cents each with the small store. The only good thing about a BIN is when you are a TRS you get moved up in the listings. I've looked at the BIN many different ways and none of them worked other than the way I use them now. I use them for window dressing and sell a few but not many. You were booted off the US site because they want to be able to have tracked shipping. They forced most users to the local sites. Where were most of your shipments going to? Would you still be able to sell as many lots if you charge for the tracked shipping? I'm having to charge about $2.50. I don't charge any extra to combine orders. The minimum charge for postage through ebay on first class small packages is $1.64. The rest is for labels, bubble envelopes, paper, and Ebay/Paypal fees. I break even charging the $2.50 rate.

Hi 1847bill

Yes we had a USA ebay feathered store. The $49.95 one per month. We got better listing costs compared to a basic store.

We always have had 95% of our sales from Australia.

USA ebay called us inter boarder traders and then aliens. Once they call us aliens that was the end of us. I would have to reset everything every time I listed. What was taking me 1min to list took me up to 15mins to list.

The changers to the mailing laws on ebay USA did not stop us from trading. We were forced to leave ebay USA because, not even by myself could I find even 1 of our 500 listing by doing searches and that included Australia ebay, as it was automatic listed there on the front page before we were called aliens.

We payed over $400 for listings on USA ebay and sold nothing and could find nothing in July last year. It really did hurt us in many ways. Now it is all just a memory!

The comparison is a USA ebay featured store to a Australia ebay featured store.

We include mailing cost in our pricing and it works well.

This year I am at the minute listing lots into our ebay store from having no listings at all. We are increasing our prices by 25% to 50% because most of our stock is about impossible to get in numbers. We are very blessed with our contacts and I would go as far to say that I would be very surprised if anyone selling Australia in our areas could match us with the stock we have and the amount of stock we have or the contacts we have. I am talking ebay and good luck to anyone else.

Very arrogant talk but I have worked long and hard at this for over 15 years now so I would want to be able to say something after all the effort.
