Recently, we've had some great material going through our Auction forum.

If I try to name names, I'll forget/offend someone, but you sellers know who you are (doug, nitro, ray, kosmet) -- ALL of you -- Thanks for making good stuff available to our members.

Far be it from me to tell anyone how to buy & sell, but I have a couple recommendations if anyone wants to hear them...

1. From what I see, auctions over 7 days don't draw as much attention as shorter ones. We don't have a lot of "sniping" on SCF, but some people do wait until the last day or two to bid.

2. On the other extreme, I've noticed some good stuff go unnoticed because an auction was 1 or 2 days. It's hard to imagine, but not everyone logs in 3 times a day like I* do

By the way, in case you don't know the procedures... each morning, I go through the forums and moved the completed items to the ENDED forum. This triggers an email from the board to the seller; the message includes a link to the thread so you can find it easily. The seller can then contact the winning bidder.

This morning, after I moved the ended threads, there was only one active auction -- the least number I've seen since I've been here.

If you don't regularly visit the Buy/Sell/Trade forums, you're missing a great resource. Take a look.

Kirk - since you have been moderating the auctions it has been great and you are actually more on top of things than I am. I generally try to end things on a sunday and this weekend got your email with item moved to realize I ended them saturday. I'm not sure if some just don't expect much so don't bother looking but as you said there has been some great material at bargain prices. More to come this week!

Incidentally, what happened to my post "TURN OFF THE SUPER BOWL, my auctions are ending in 20 minutes"??

I paid a guy $10 to shut off the stadium lights, but he only got half of them. Should I send him $5 instead?

It seemed like the appropriate place to post this video of an auction of I am guessing a very exclusive collection.

I like the way the presenter keeps using the term "Conservatively priced". Some really really good stuff. I would like to say it but I wont spoil it.

There are items in the Auctions that I feel guilty for not bidding

Phil, Kosmet and Doug2222 keep listing items and I keep thinking, "Gosh, I wish I had been here when I was building my USA collection."

It took me ages to find the American Indian Dances -- almost every strip I could find was separating -- hard to find an intact strip of 5. And the Space Achievement block. Jeez, such good material.

GUILTY as charged. Guilt submerges us in profound and overwhelming feelings of regret, hopelessness, and isolation, so that we will NEVER commit such an act again.

Fortunately, you can BID* to banish all those bad feelings. But time is short!

=================
*For best results and better karma, BID twice.
