What you have is a perfin stamp from the Victorian era. The "DUFF" is slightly unusual, but not unique, in that although keeping to the regulations, full name perfins were frowned on by the (then) General Post Office. It was not unusual for an official to visit companies with full name perfin stamps requesting they change to initials (usually ignored). So, you'd be looking for a company with the name of DUFF if you wanted to research. |

Thanks more for practice and sure its is interesting to me. I have other ones that catch my eye as I wander through albums and folders. Just not what I am used to seeing. Thanks again! |

The DUFF perfin might indicate the DUFF Development Company. Engineering, water treatment and the like. Might be worth googling them. I believe they were involved in a legal action against Kelantan and Anor.

Probably NOT the right source, but I did find the "Duffield Bank Railway," in Wikipedia, a narrow-gauge built in England in 1874; dismantled c1916. Extremely interesting to railroad buffs, guaranteed. |
