Algeria Greek Mythology - Gorgon Mask May 18, 2106 The stamp features a Gorgon mask returned to Algeria from Tunisia. This white marble mask was originally discovered in Annaba (formerly the Roman African city of Hippo Regius) in east Algeria. Gorgon is a female creature in Greek mythology. Images of the Gorgons were put upon objects and buildings for protection.  |
