I'm Going To Need Some Help......

How many time have you gone to look at a collection for sale only to find out someone thinks their $20 collection is worth Thousands ? I've done it too many times so when I received a call from a Woman last week I figured I'd blow it off as I'd inquired about the same collection last Summer but never received a call back.

When I found out that it was only 10 minutes from my House I figured it might be worth a look. I wen through 3 bankers boxes of stamps for almost 3 hours and it became crystal clear that this was no kiddies collection. I know there are some real plums in this batch but one of my weak points (Among many) is early Canada and there is quite a bit.

I'm just scratching the surface so I'll post them as I find them but here is one display card alone that was laying in one of the boxes.



And then I stumbled across a glassine with these. The 5/- Bridge is Mint never hinged

I have a saying whenever I go to look at a stamp collection and that is to look at the cover of the album and I say: "If it has a cowboy, astronaut or African native on it, it's a cheapie" Also, "If the album binders are blank, neat and uniform, it is 'usually' a better quality collection.

Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule

You haven't mentioned ... did you actually buy the collection, or are you helping identify items for the seller?

I hauled the boxes down the stairs into the Stamp room last night..........not to the delight of my Wife..............

Hope you gave her some good money for those if those first stamps were the tip of the iceberg. I'd have kept it an open ended deal if I were to sell and get good money for them I'd send her a commission..but that's the kind of person I am. I once took my collection to a dealer..I played coy. He offered me $40 for a 2k on the low side for my collection. He seemed pretty frightened when he found out I knew just as much he did. I see him once in a while at the yearly stamp show as he's one of the dealer there..think he remembers me. He seems to avoid me at every turn. =). Anyways good find.

We both thought the price was fair. It's probably a bit more than I wanted to give for it but I think for what I paid it will work out.
