Sorry if this has been discussed before!
I'm slowly building my Canadian collection and am now starting to look at adding in some of the coil issues. I've always thought that a pair was better than a single, but have no idea where this bias came from.
What do others think? There are lots of singles on offer on various sites but I've not bought them so far, keeping watch for the more elusive pairs or larger multiples.
I'm also wary of trimmed stamps and wonder if anyone has been scammed by acquiring stamps that someone has fraudulently scissored?

NB Stamper From Linns Stamp News: Collecting coil stamps as pairs makes it easier to determine whether they are genuine coil stamps or fakes created by trimming the perforations away from the top and bottom or sides of perforated sheet stamps or by applying fraudulent perforations to imperforate stamps.http://www.linns.com/howto/refreshe...rcourse.aspx |

I normally collect coils as pairs, strips of four and strips of four with a gutter in the middle if available. |

I'm not as "serious" as serious, but I agree with lorddenning Pairs have a nice look to them and for the most part, you've not talking about a lot of additional cost for pairs. Kirk |

Hello all, I'm new to these forums, but have enjoyed reading the many topics recently. Since I have to make my first post sometime, I may as well do it here. For coils, I collect both a single and a pair. I agree that it is best to have a pair to be sure it is genuine, but singles that are well centered alongside a pair in an album/on a page, is nice to look at. PS: (my user tag comes from combining Dadeo and 3 (three kids, so Dadeo of 3). Plus 3D sounded like a cool nickname. |

Seriously I am serious about my collection, actually if it is collectable and it's affordable I will attempt to have a copy in my collection. So single coils, pairs, strips etc. all help to complete my collection. |

I understand Serious -- hope you didn't mind my teasing.
When I was putting together my USA collection, my album had lots of pages for "coil pairs" and I enjoyed them.
Of modern stamps, I really like the Transportation Series. I have them in pairs. I think it would be fun to try and put together strips of 3 or 5. I don't know much about plate numbers, but I guess I could learn.
