On June 4, 1963 Gibraltar issued this 9d stamp (Sc #161) to commemorate the U.N. Food and Agricultural Organization's (FAO) Freedom from Hunger campaign. This stamp is a "common design type" of the British Commonwealth of Nations, so 36 other states/territories issued a stamp of this design.

White leghorn chickens are depicted on Aland Islands's January 2, 2002 Frama-type computer-vended stamps (Mi #13). Because of the limitations of the vending machines, only four different values could be purchased throughout the time the design was on sale (until May 5, 2003).

A cockerel which is desperate to wake you up at 5 AM.

Tuvalu, 1988

By the way, their crow sounds are diversely expressed in different countries/languages;

English: cock-a-doodle-doo
Czech: kykyryký
Fijian (Tuvalu's near-by / well, 1,179 km away..): koti-dua-doo
Finnish: kukkokiekuu
French: cocorico
German: kikeriki
Italian: chicchirichě
Japanese: kokekkokkoo

What is it in your own language?

jamesw,
After seeing the stamps posted here, I have to agree with your wife, chickens are cute. On stamps anyway. You may have given me a new topic to collect.
