Evening folks, Fairly new to the hobby so I'm wondering what albums, if they use, folks tend to prefer? I'd like to obtain one but not sure where to start. Collection will be focused on Canadian and I'm a bit of a completist when it comes to collecting.

Thanks!

Hi KJL,

I would be interested, too. I collect Canadian Provinces and can't find any decent printed albums that have pages for these. Those I have seen so far all seem to start around 1913.
(Same goes for Australian States.)

Welcome:

Here's a page I started some time ago
https://goscf.com/t/11268

Also, use the Search button at the top of every SCF page to find "Steiner"

I collect Canada and Provinces. I recommand the Lighthouse Albums. They're expensive but the quality is there.

Agreed! I love my Lighthouse albums. I frequently see them on ebay for under $100. Worth the investment, imo

I use Schaubek but would not recommend as it can be confusing and the mounts often do not accommodate stamps with large margins. Go Lighthouse if you have the $

actually, I based my album on this one (which I purchased):
http://www.lulu.com/shop/john-m-wal...8822292.html

It is available as a .pdf download that can be printed on whatever paper you want. The numbering is from some catalog that I don't have, so I added my own numbers from the Unitrade catalog to my pages.

Simple and beautiful, BeeSee and Chip! If I had the time, this would be the way to go. But alas, I barely have the time to place stamps in the albums I have now.

I make my own too. I think that only 5% of all my albums were pre-printed (published by a company) and all the rest I did on my own.

I had my own printed by a local newspaper. I mount a mint and used version and include data about the stamp i.e. date of issue, quantity, printer, a short story of the stamp and why it was issued etc.

I "make" my own too. The pages fit a three ring binder, are acid-free quadrille, but they don't look as nice as some of the ones members have shown here. The thing I like about the simple approach is that you can fit in any items you acquire, like imperfs with a bit of selvedge, pairs or blocks, covers, extra shades or changelings and the like. And if you get keen on a particular issue or series, just slip in another page. If I ever get to the point where I show a part of the collection I would print some nicer pages, but I'm the only one who ever looks at it now, and I'm more interested in flexibility and protection.

Very impressed with those that create their own album pages. Looks like a job well done. I was lazy and bought the Lindner hingeless Canadian album. Easy to mount your stamps in the pockets provided and also mount used on the illustrated page. Pricey but definitely a quality product.

KJL, my album preference is Lindner. Expensive but really nice and will last a life time. Also as the serious collector states, you can mount your used on the printed page so can house two collections at the same time. DD
