Good question..probably when my wife is playing Mah Jhong on the computer...i spend so much time wading through overpriced junk on ebay..(stockcard of Romania $27.00) where do these guys get their prices from? Anyway its developing into a bad habit..i should be working on my own stamps instead of always searching !!

I catch myself doing the same thing. I should be listing something for sale or working on a constant storage issue. Instead I get side tracked looking at over priced or wrongly listed items. Then I wonder why I don't have any free time left.

Phil... I resemble that remark

I spend more time online, reading, etc. than I do actually "touching" my stamps. But I tell myself that knowledge and research are an important part of any hobby.

You always give me hope ! I have been going through kind of a trying time with my stamp club..i probably over react but I try so hard to find good stuff for the members to bid on...its pretty sad..i ask them to bring in their unwanted stuff ..and they forget..they just want to come in and be entertained and let some one else do it..some day the auction table may be bare and they might get the message..there are 6 or 8 of us who would come in just for the sociable aspect and chew the fat..but the auction is what gets 15 people or more to the meeting..but the stuff just does not fall out of the sky !

I have hardly had time to touch my stamps in a long time. We started a new business last year, and any spare time I had went out of the window. SCF is my only stamp time at the moment. At least I have that fix each day!

Philb, what you said about your wife reminded me of something my 5 year old said recently.
"I know what Mummy and Daddy get up to after we've gone to bed!", she whispered to her Granny. "I got up one night when they thought I was asleep, and I saw what they were doing. Do you know what it was, Granny?". Poor Granny shook her head helplessly and steeled herself for what was coming. "Daddy" exclaimed my daughter," was eating a big bowl of salad, and Mummy was playing cards on the computer!".

stampgal, I also have a 5-year-old and know that feeling of dread, worried about what could possibly come out next. My husband and I hold our breath every Sunday during "children's time" when our pastor has all the kids come up and asks them questions. ;D

My issue is storage...I don't have enough of it so they stay in boxes. I would definitely love to get them out of boxes and into proper albums but albums are costing me a fortune!

I just don't have much time to spend hands-on with stamps, I don't think I've actually cracked an album in months, which is a real shame because I have a bunch that need to be put away but no time to do it. I hardly have time to even look for new stamps these days!

When I get into a pile of stamps that I am not comfortable with I really slow down and put off working on them. I have a bunch of early US that could be worth a lot or noting. But they are so hard to tell apart and the color variations. I hate loathe and despise fly speck collecting. I get so disgusted I find the cheapest entry fot the stamp I can in scotts' and give it that number and stick in my album. I much perfer stamps I have a fighting chance of getting right. But early US just defeats me so I put off working on them but I need to get them out of the way to make more progress. It is a catch 22. Time is so hard to come by to work on them and then when you run into is it this version or that , this perf or that, that color or this UGH!! I all but stop collecting.
Nick

Hi!
Well, it seems like everyday I anxiously await the mailman, for he usually has some recently purchased stamps - often in envelopes covered with older postage stamps. Often I'll go right upstairs to my "hobby room" and take care of ebay feedbacks, etc., and begin to sort and mount. But other times I'll just tease myself and wait til after dinner.

The thing is, every once in awhile I encounter a problem - usually it involves a stamp that is not readily identifiable. I confess that has been exasperating at times, and I've just had to walk away from it.
