Does anyone have an idea why something like this happened? I found this in my pile of foreign issues. This seems to be a stamp attached to a newspaper in a funny spot. It is probably nothing, but it seems strange to me. Clearly cancelled on the piece. There is a part of a recipe on back. Too bad its not bigger, I would try to make the recipe.

Merely the mailing of a newspaper, which would have no "box" or designated location to place a stamp.

They used to make wrappers to put newspapers in and send to a subscriber. I've seen the use like yours, where they just applied a stamp. You would have to hope they didn't put it on the one story you really wanted to read or the recipe you want to make.

Thanks, kind of what I thought. Good point, I was thinking the same thing, it kind of messes up the paper, you know it would be on the most interesting story. I suppose its a small stamp so you might only lose a few words, and you could guess what they were, might be fun.
