53 years as of next month (April, 1960 to April, 2013). I have no idea how many stamps I actually have; probably "too many." |

I don't know and don't care about the quantity. I only care about the next one, its the hunt that matters to me and recently, its been curls, cracks and faults.

Been collecting the past 10 years after a very long break. I have no idea how many stamps I have - I know that I keep buying them to keep enough unprocessed material on hand to keep me busy for several months. Crazy mixture of mint and used - mostly mint in my permanent collections. |

8,097 different as of tonight. I started again about 2 years ago after a 40+ years break from usual kids collecting. I'm taking a different approach from most of the posters here who don't care how many they have. I don't worry too much about the number either but I do want to know what I've got. This means entering into a spreadsheet and once there the total number is automatically available. |

I have absolutely no idea how many I have. I started collecting stamps in 1955, which is about 58 years now.
I thought I bought 2 bins with 250,000 stamps in the Summer of 2010, but, the previous owner told me only a couple of months ago that there were over 400,000 stamps in all. That is on top of what I alreay had!
Now, by asking how many we have, are you also taking into consideration bulk lots and collections? Some collectors buy by weight too with kilo lots etc.
Just wondering

Collecting off and on, multiple times, for about 45 years. Most of my collection was inherited, but I have added a few thousand. Now trying to stick with a few countries, but whenever I travel (or my family travels), the only souvenir that I usually get is some local stamps. I then post these on a separate page in my album, with a note to remember who went where, what they did, and how I pestered them for the stamps. Not much value, but a lot of memories, and about 15 albums, 40,000+ stamps so far. |

3 months and I'm building 2 collections. U.S. classics, and World War 2 era, World-Wide. At least 1500 stamps so far. Really enjoying myself and I've learned so much from this forum. |

I have been collecting on and off for about 45 years now, as a kid and now as an adult. Currently I collect WW thru 1979. It makes for a lot of stamps! Using an Excel spreadsheet, I now have 15,786. That's not a lot, but all are mounted on the Steiner pages on postcard thickness paper. It makes for a very nice looking collection! I add a bit every day trying to spend at least an hour each evening and more time on the weekends depending on the weather. |

I been collecting for only a few years and when I was younger with my Grandfather. My collection isn't very large but it's very focused on US classics and classic advert covers from a few very specific Pennsylvania towns. It seems I'm always upgrading something and buy something new at least once a month so to hazard a guess 2400+/- singles, and 100+/- covers and picture postcards. |

The answers are all over the place just like stamp collecting itself. I have a lot of stamps. I don't have enough though. I read a thread here on the varieties in Australia and states. I went through what I had and it wasn't enough for me to know enough about what I was looking for. I found some online and bought another hundred or so. I found what to look for and will be targeting those for a while. After I find what I'm looking for in the area I'll move to another. The actual amount of stamps I want to keep will be somewhat small but the duplicates will be larger. I usually pack those away instead of selling. Some people are happy having a copy of a stamp. I'm happy when I have a copy of all listed varieties within an area. You can go to auctions and buy the stamp without all of the duplicates but I am a hunter and love the thrill of finding the hidden gems. |
