Stamps that show different styles of the obliterations used to cancel or invalidate postage stamps.

See also the Postal History Society of Canada website : http://www.postalhistorycanada.net/...ex/intro.php

Also, roller-type of cancellations, for non-machinable mailings or postings.

The little wavey lined things at the end of a cancel, or the funny squiggly lines after modern spray-on ink-jet cancels or the multiple-barred hand rollers or older, dated and named roller cancels.

Now does anyone not have any of these?

edit: new image, typos etc, etc

Here is a new way used by Canada Post to cancel stamps. This is far from acceptable from a collector's point of view. What a way to ruin such a great stamp.

Do you really think Canada Post cares about collectors ?

Well maybe when they want you to shell out $88.88 for a limited edition of the upcoming Chinatown labels.

Not nice. Maybe you could soak these apart, but that is pretty strong adhesive on that bar code label.

Canada 1977 12c blue coil stamp, Parliament buildings, with a wavey-lined (waves) obliteration.

French term is ondule (corrtugated).
The term in use, on ebay, for 'wavey cancel' in French is ondule (English = corrugated).

A multi-barred cancel, probably a hand roller-type of cancel, on a 45c grey Canada Flag stamp.

A nice curvey, wavey cancellation obliteration on a pair of Canada 1992 1c Blueberry stamps.

I like these berry stamps with their repeating design pattern idea.

Canada 1992 25c Saskatoon Berry pair of stamps , from kiloware, with the jagged remains of a ripped pair of flag stamps left on top.

Over all the stamps, a double rolling of a 5-bar killer roller-cancel obliteration, nicely extra-inked, rolling over the fields of berries. This type of cancel is usually found on non-machinable postings, those that cannot be processed through the cancelling machines. They just won't fit.

Canada 1979 Queen Elizabeth II, QEII, definitive stamp, 17c green, with a 7-bar wavy-lined roller obliteration, having an interesting early start, the outer bars of the cancel not showing immediately.

Another 7-bar hand-roller obliteration, this time creatively swirled up.

A Canada 1997 90c Fruit Tree issue, Elberta Peach tree and flower stamp.
