My Nephew is doing historical research for a book about the area so he stopped by today..he was in Poughkeepsie at the Dutchess County historical society..and he saw some bundles outside..he asked about them and was told they were old bound copies of the Poughkeepsie Journal from the late 19th and early 20th century that were being thrown away...he asked if he could take some and was told yes...he and his son loaded up what they could of the 1895 to around 1913 binders into his car. Weird eh ? I know the stuff must be on microfiche ..but the paper itself is historical !!
That's a real shame. I'm glad your nephew rescued them. Maybe you guys can sit and go through them for historic events or to research covers in your collection maybe?
i wish I was along when he saw them...even though the wife and I swear that we have to unload 47 years of accumulation..there always seems to be something else !!
