I just bought a set of Scott 2010 catalogs for the pictures. Now I have an old set of 1999 catalogs that are in medium condition that I don't want. I don't want to sell them, I don't want to throw them out, but I am not too eager to pay the postage to give them away if, in fact, anybody wants them. Any ideas about to whom I might donate them? Thanks.

Tell us city and state, that would affect (my) answer. Forget about mailing, Media Mail has gone WAY up, the cost would be enormous.

Offer them up for free here- I'm sure somebody would like them for free here. If they weigh 35 pounds like my 2010 set they will just cost like $20 or so- not bad for a set if you're just back into worldwide collecting.

New York area take them to a stamp show and place on a table with a free note. If they are still there when you are ready to leave take them back with, but odds are someone will appreciate the set. And no USPS nipping charges either.

Consider, too, that sometimes old catalogs can be helpful in identifying a trend in stamp values. Used in conjunction with a current catalog, the old catalogs can sometimes help in identifying those stamps that have a track record for going up in value as compared to those stamp values that have remained dormant.

I also have a full set of Scott catalogs stacked in a corner, 2000, have been there for a few years. No one wanted them so they just sit.

Like you I don't want to throw them away and the cost of mailing them to someone would be high.

I haven't tripped over them yet so I guess I will just leave them alone. When I buy the 2014 set I will have two stacks in the corner

Do you have all 8 volumes? You can stuff 4 volumes in a Priority rate medium flat rate box for $12.35 so 8 volumes would be $24.70 that sounds like a smokin deal to me, if so I will gladly pay the postage for these.
