I've found these stamps in a ziplock bag in one of my stamp boxes as I was sorting it out and was surprised since I thought I've done all my Asian stamps. However, these have stumped me and I can't find them in my Scott catalog. If anyone could help me I'd appreciate it.

Come on folks! Let's see how many we can do before khj gets back and tells us the answers!

2, 3 and 8 are 1945 Japanese Occupation Chinese National Currency surcharges for Shanghai/Nankin
5 and 7 are not provincial. They are 1946 Chinese National Currency surcharges on general issues.
4 is a 1942 Japanese Occupation issue for North China.
6 is Japanese occupation of Mengkiang.

Arrrgggghhhh! Somebody ate all my candy! Nothing to be found anywhere in the house.

Actually, it may have been me.

I guess I'll have to drown out my sorrows by IDing some stamps...

By the way, khj, the secret is to lick the gum off a few MNHs and PRETEND it's candy. Less calories that way.

My apologies to non-Scott users. Normally I put the year of issue to help you find the stamp in SG, Michel..., but since 20+ stamps. If you need a year of issue for any of these stamps, post the stamp picture #.

1. Chinese duty stamp
2. ROC, #651(wmk261) or #659(unwmk)
3. ROC, #650(wmk261) or #658(unwmk)
4. ROC, North China #8N6 (re-engraved)
5. ROC, Shanghai and Nanking #9N11 (not re-engraved, confirm perf 12.5)
6. ROC, Meng Chiang (Inner Mongolia) #2N64
7. ROC, #703(secret mark)
8. ROC, #616
9. ROC #653
10. ROC #621

Actually, there are a couple of US stamp issues from the late 1970s to early 1980s that do have a "sweet" tasting gum. Yeah, I do a LOT of mailing.

OK, somebody left their wallet at the office. Now I got to drive all the way back.

You get extra time to work on the next 10 stamps.

X!X!X! raining in New Zealand!

Well 11, 14, 20, 23, 26 and 27 are national issues with 1948 Gold Yuan surcharges. I don't understand why you wouldn't find these in Scott.

12 and 17 More 1945 CNC surcharges for Japanese Occupation of Shanghai/Nanking

16 CNC 1945 surcharge, national.

13, 19, 22, 24 ditto but 1946

21 another Japanese Occupation of Mengkiang

25 1943 Japanese Occupation issue for the Yangtse Basin area (usually just gets called Nanking)

29 I'll leave this for khj. Looks to me like a provincial issue but since the postmark goes right through the character I want to read I'm keeping shtum.

Well, I'm back! A couple had left their purse (his wallet was inside her purse as well) and I had to go retrieve it because it had their ID's, driver's licenses, money, credit cards... inside.

In about 2 weeks, I'll be posting my most recent high value stamp acquisitions.

Very good, Bamra1! You are right, most of those stamps are national issues and can be found in the main listings in Scott (SG divides things a little differently). However, if you aren't familiar with the Chinese script, they can be a little difficult to spot, and a lot of collectors will simply assume their are regional issues when they don't see them right away in the main listings.

In additional, the CNC surcharges can be a little tricky, because if you are not familiar with them, then you end up scratching your head to figure out which of the multiple surcharges came first!

OK, back to the catalogs...

You are right, the first line of the overprint indicates it is for use in Taiwan.
