Hi,

Hereunder are the front and back pics of stamp 338. It appears to be an offset variety.

Is it listed somewhere? Any idea on its value?

Since the front and the back don't seem to be aligned, I would guess that it's just a transfer from another stamp that was underneath it at some point.

Nice offset.

Is your stamp ribbed horizontal or vertical?

(Did you do any "tweaking" to the image to highlight the offset? I've seen other, lighter, offsets on the 2c Wilding.)

The stamp is ribbed horizontally.

Both the front and back were scanned with the same settings. Additional adjustments were not made.

The stamp had to be turned for scanning. No precaution was taken to align the front and back.

I'm still interested to know if this variety is listed somewhere and what is the estimated value.

What I meant by "not aligned" was that I don't think the image we see behind the stamp comes from the front of the stamp.

The image probably came from another stamp on which it was put over.

It's a very nice offset (usually caused by stamp panes/sheets placed on other not-quite dry sheets after printing). I personally have not seen one that clear on a 2c Wilding (and I hace gone through a lot)

Value would depend on demand, and since the Wilding is a common stamp, probably not too high ($5+)? Still, it would fit nicely in any variety collection.

Thanks 3Dadeo,

I agree with you, it's a nice variety to have.

It's not listed in Unitrade. I was under impression that it could be listed in a different specialized catalog.

The Harris "Karsh, Wilding, Cameo Definitives" book lists and illustrates a block of 4 with the two right stamps having an offset (from the 'GD Mass Collection'). However, it is not priced.

Thanks studystamps, your feedback is appreciated.

I will eventually use your link to order some specialized catalogs in the near future.
