Good morning,

My Dad recently asked me to help unload some of is stuff cause he is mooving. He as a pretty decent house with an attick that none of us goes in since the late 70's. He decided to moove to a smaller place and sold much of is stuff. The only thing to empty last week was the attick so he proposed to me to empty it and keep what was in it if I wnted some of the items and sell the rest.

When I pushed the trapp up, I could not believe the amount of items in there, it was totally full and stacked to the roof. I have to say I was amazed by wath I found.

Old furniture, vintage posters, a box with Lalique (4) wrapped in cloth, a large coin and bank note collection.

On one side was some boxes (45) stacked so I picked one up and decided to go thrue it a bit.....................OMG...........some documentation from the early 1800's up to the early 1900's ( old prints, old ads, old Stock and Shares(500 of them or more)...................

I then talk to my Dad about the amazing things in there and he said to me that my Grand-father was quite a collector and he stop doing so in the late 1970's. But my that said that he got what he wanted from is Dad and he wish for me to get some nice treasures and memories.

At first I sorted one boxe, and two more by theme, its been a week and I am not finished sorting it out.

I realized tha some of the correspondance have some stamps from the early 1900's and was woundering if they could have value...

Per exemple, one of the package as on one side:

A bloc of 20, 1917 State of New York 1$, Stock Transfer Tax

And on the other side:

one more block of 20, 1917 United State Internal Revenu, 1$, Documentary....these have a black stamp ``Stock Transfer...

Other exemple : Block of 2 : Fifteen cents Registration quebec green Beaver ?

Some are from Canada, some from the US and some from UK and other Europe Country's.....

I am very limited in this field of expertise and would wish to get advice

Allan

First of all Welcome! Second, a very good quality picture would certainly be more helpful for I.D.ing purposes. Also, leave everything intact! DO NOT REMOVE ANY stamps from their envelopes(covers)as that will surely add to any value the stamps have. Try not to handle your stamps with your hands if at all possible? We will need an image of whatever your asking about please.

(BTW, there are a lot of type-O's in that post)

Welcome to the forum

I agree with the other postings in here. Do not remove anything and keep the old cheques (checks) and covers (envelopes) intact and do not soak the stamps off them either.

As previously stated, you may have some nice items stored up in your attic. Posters etc, are quite popular and it would be best if you did some research on the items you have. You can Google almost anything and find out about the majority of the items you have.

Your father was right to wish you some treasures and memories. That all these things belonged to your grandfather will bring memories better than treasure. Enjoy.

Most of that stuff by itself as singles are almost worthless HOWEVER. in multiples and on piece they will command a premium. Now that don't mean you can retire or anything but it is certainly better than the aforementioned. The checks with revenues attached are awesome and so is the postal stationery so keep them all together and post in the BOB section for best results on valuation. From the looks of it you got quite the collection there! Congrats and we could could only hope to be that fortunate! Cheers friend and we look forward to assisting you on your ID quest!
