I was sorting through some pre-1940 Egyptian stamps today and noticed that the only copy I have of Scott #136a seems to be made of a paper type that is different from the others in this series #128-141.
I don't really know anything about Egyptian stamps and have never gone out of my way to collect them, however, I'm curious now if I have something different. The paper appears to be a pulp type paper with a lot of fibers. The fibers are very noticeable under magnification. All of the other stamps that I have from the range of #128-141, whether Type I or Type II, are of distinctly different paper (looks like what I would simply call "regular paper" out of ignorance!).
Can anyone tell me if there are known variations on the paper types used? From the Scott Classic Specialized Catalog I see that there were some earlier series from Egypt made from "chalky" paper (whatever that means), but this note is not included for this particular King Fuad series.
Anyone know if I have something special?
