I collect Swiss stamps, but have never encountered this sign. Is it found on the back of the stamps? Peter.

Yes, it probably is a mark to authenticate the stamp. In Europe that used to be a very common aan accepted practice. Peter

It looks awfully big for a dealers/ expertisers mark...

It doesn't look like any expertizer mark that I've ever seen.

It is very unusual for any expertizer to use such an ink color, for obvious reasons. Most likely a collector mark. Hope it doesn't show through to the front of the stamp.
