The stamp in the picture below somehow looks like a stamp from Iraq to me but I am unable to find it.
Any help appreciated!

It is Jordan, a postal tax stamp, RA31. The line of Arabic below the picture reads "Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan". Below that is something about Palestine. The description in Scott states that it was "issued to help the Welfare Fund for Arabs in Palestine."

Actually, your stamp has been overprinted for use as normal postage. In the Scott catalog:

Jordan #290(1953)

Wow, I completely overlooked the overprint. I was just excited that I could decipher enough of the script to locate it.

Because the overprint is off-center, it's easy to miss the overprint, even though it is in carmine. I didn't pay attention at first either, and thought is was some additional hand-cancel.
