Just got these at a auction today and was wondering if anyone had any info on these as I can't seem to find any. The only ones I can find have solid envelopes. I think it's neat how they have to holes in the envelopes, what's up with that. Oh ya picked it up for $20 if anyone was wondering.

Thanks for looking and any info is good info.

Can't be certain about the holes in those covers in particular, but the recent philatelic/numismatic covers put out by CP and the RCM have similar holes in them. I have the Royal Wedding and Diamond Jubilee cover/coin combo. Both covers are not sealed and contain a card with a commemorative coin mounted in it. The holes in the covers allow the coin to be viewed (front and back) when the card/coin is in the cover.

Someone along the line removed the coins, making the covers pretty well worthless.

I had a bunch of those, also without the coins. Tried selling them here and on ebay, with no luck.
Ended up trimming off the corners with the stamps and cancels. Eventually, they all sold on ebay, but what a lot of effort!

Not to mention the fact that the lion's share of the silver coins have no doubt been melted down during the several peaks in silver price.
