2 regular #197 on each side of the sample to see the difference

Even after a peroxyde bath, the color remained brownish red
and it is not #197e (deep brown red imperf pair...)

Anybody have red something about this? any idea?
Thanks

You've identified the two shades reported in Unitrade (2013).

I've never used peroxide.

As the two "normal" stamps both have pinkish margins, instead of whitish, could peroxide "darken" one of these stamps to match the centre stamp.? Just guessing.

Only the middle stamp was "peroxided".

The idea behind the peroxide bath is to remove the brownish tint that result from the oxydation of the stamp by altering the original color that turned out from red to brown.
The bath would bring back the original color

The 2 normal here have not been "peroxided"

What about Unitrade 2013? What does it say about the 2 shades?

Unitrade 2012 reported under #197e a deep brown red imperf flat press
My stamp here is not imperf...

Unitrade says what you already know.
The 197e is imperforated.
Perforated stamps are deep red.

You misunderstood what I was suggesting.

If you were to peroxide the left or right stamp, would it turn dark red like the centre stamp?

If I had peroxided the 2 red stamps, the color would have become more clear...not darker or brownish

I did not soak the 2 red stamps in the peroxide
... and I did not have to do so for what I was looking for.

We all know that the regular Unitrade #197 is red
Right now, I have one that is more brownish. To see if my brown stamp would be the result of the oxydation on the ink, I usally soak the stamp in a mix of 50-50 water-peroxide for about 3-5 minutes and more if needed.
The peroxide would remove the oxydation (brownish alteration) so as to let see the stamp's original color : red

Here, the bath did not clean the stamp as expected even after more than 8 minutes in the peroxide mixture.

My question was to know if anybody knows or have red something about this brownish Unitrade #197 that is suppose to be red color

For a better understanding of the use of the peroxide, please read he following topic at this address.

Hope my explanations are clear enough
regards

That's a pretty cool find Koala ! I looked at about 30 stamps I have and none have a color variation. The color on your stamp is very even and doesn't have that oxydation look. Did you check the perforation on it....just to rule out an imperf that was perfed......

Perf 11 1/4 x 11

from Unitrade : Perf 11

I have checked many #197 and they are mostly 11 1/4 x 11

I think I will soak it for at least 10 minutes and see what will happen
