well mac it's a start! It seems that the cancel is for the "British Ministry of War Transport" but how is it no one has ever heard of this cancellation? And how do they get to use it on a stamp from Canada?
Since there's no date or time or place name, maybe these are revenue cancels; after all, the Canadian stamps are good for postage or revenue purposes. I think we should also look in the Canadian perfin catalog and see if there's a B.M.W.T. perfin.
I don't think this is related, but a web search for the initials BMWT in Canada comes up with a small firm by that name in North York, Ontario. Although I don't think the company name is related, I wonder if the "N.Y." could be misleading and refers to North York (as in Ontario) rather than New York?
I would tend to agree it's not a postal marking as there is no date as part of the CDS imprint.
