So I was taking down some old bookshelves and found a box on the top shelve with no labeling covered in dust. Inside I found a stamp collection with a number of countries. The envelope labled "England had the following inside it:

I'm an avid US collector and don't know much about the Great Britain stamps, but do know this is a pretty sweet find so far! So if anyone has some advice on how to organize these things and what to look for with the red brown Queen stamps I'd appreciate it. Just don't know where to start. My intention would be to sell whatever has decent value. Thanks

They are fairly straightforward in the Scott Catalog. For the red-brown stamp, first separate out the imperforates, they are #3. Then divide the rest into two piles, those with letters in only two corners; those are #8 through #20 (interspersed with other denominations). Those with letters in all four corners are all #33. That's it. Scott #33 comes with small plate numbers worked into the scrollwork at either side, and some numbers are quite valuable. Some letter+number cancellations are quite valuable. Now it begins to get complicated. Plate numbers run from 71 to 225. The British Gibbons catalog goes into MUCH more detail, but Scott is a good start. Watch for inverted watermarks, too.

Post a big clear image of the blue two penny stamp and we'll identify it by Scott number.

Thanks very much - exactly the direction I was looking for. Here is a closup of the blue stamp you asked about. The watermark appears to be Scott 20 (don't have watermark fluid) and the perf is 14.

The 2d. is Scott #30 Plate 13 ($22 in 2008), but with the upper right corner missing, it's of negligible value. You can see the little 13 exactly halfway up the stamp, in the right-hand scroll work; the left-hand 13 is mostly obscured by the cancel.

The plate numbers on the 1d. Scott #33's will look exactly the same, except numbers will be between 71 and 225. Rarest numbers are 77, 219, and 225.

As doug222 mentioned, you should sort these out into groups... and please rescue the curled ones as you never know what is valuable in philatelic or financial terms. Flatten them between pages of books or similar.
There are several that catch my eye...

this one has an Aberdeen postmark and I'd love to see a closer scan.

This one has a Maltese Cross cancel so is worth another closer look too.

All the numbered postmarks are of interest... many collectors like to have their local postmarks for instance and some of the Post Offices making the cancels no longer exist

I don't see the missing corner. It just looks poorly centered, so you can't see the blue border on the upper right corner. I suspect it would still have some value ($2 or so).

I guess I am seeing the shadow of the corner because the stamp's not flat. Fooled me!
