This France 27 has a Tour T (?) Forbach circular date stamp, and it has what seems to be a boxed something underneath, as well.

Forbach was apparently a port of entry, and I've found blue Forbach strikes described as entry marks. Anyone have an online resource for more information on French entry marks? I was not able to find much using the Google.

If I really let my imagination run wild, there are boxed 'Colonies' marks on covers, which may fit in with an entry mark? I can't make out the second line of the boxed marking, so I can't be sure.

Is there enough here to give any confirmation or correction?

Thanks for looking.

I believe the postmark reads "TOUR-T. / 3 FORBACH 3".

According to Van der Linden it was applied in Paris on items from the Thurn and Taxis postal service. I assume it travelled via Forbach on the border. Earlier similar marks were applied in Forbach itself.

Thanks for that, nigelc.

My initial thought when seeing the boxed marking was a Coln cancel (and of course it could be many, many things), but that wasn't making sense to me on a French stamp.

I have some more digging to do.
