A Neopost Postage Meter Question

This is not at all an unusual postage meter imprint. In fact it's defined as No. N3B in the International Postage Meter Stamp Catalog:



However, upon closer look of the stamp indicia, it appears to me there are five fingers and a thumb on the hand holding the torch. Here's a close up:



Am I seeing things or is that an oddity that the postage meter company let get by?

Maybe an illusion? Maybe his thumb crosses his pointer finger and then down. So, you see part of the pointer finger behind the thumb and the tip in front? Regardless, it's weird
