Yeah , we have another new member! Welcome to where the fun is. and you have pictures too! You have a couple of Italian States. The left stamp is from Sardinia 1861 & it is a 3 Lira. It is probably unused as real used ones are rare. The right one is a Two Sicilies # 15 (I think). The color ranges from orange vermillion to vermillion. Both are very nice stamps. A word of caution about many early stamps. There were plenty of fakes and faked cancels on early stamps. Italy and the states there are a lot. Also better scans will always be appreciated. Noone really cares about the holder they are in so crop as much of that as you can and try to get a higher resolution (300-600 dpi) will be fine. You will need to learn how to upload them which is always fun and interesting to learn(not).

When you make images, don't use the entire scanner glass as your scanning area and crop away the excess -- that makes for poor-quality images. For two stamps, set your scanning area no larger than 3 x 3 inches, scan at 600dpi, then use Microsoft Office Picture Manager (a standard feature of Windows) to reduce the image down to 100KB or less so as to fit on SCF.

Hello, welcome.

Just do one country or region at a time.

The value currently in the marketplace, on ebay or Delcampe perhaps, or on Delcampe Prestige for expensive stamps (to purchase and search) is less than the catalogue price stated usually, but for quality and rarer examples, the price is no object sometimes!

Fun and the hunt are a part of stamp collecting or philately.

Specialized catalogues are almost a necessity for valuable stamps, and an expert's opinion helps too. Lots of those here.

When you post, please try to name the topic / thread with the name of the country, if you know it. This helps to attract those who know more about those stamps.

This Italian site (in Italian, but stamps are stamps!) is a nice site. I do not have much experience with it though.

Thank you yes that makes sense. for some reason it only would allow me to post this stamp I do not know why.. and of course I messed those up uploading them , I will get it in a few it might take me a couple times..lol.. yes your right looking up stamps etc... is work and fun.. learning about them etc.... I HAVE so many I have no idea where to start but .. the thing is I may get to the more valuable stamp at the very end..lol.. haha. but it will be some time looking..

I will try to research before I post on here to get a idea of what I have.. etc and not to confuse anyone already here.

If you do not need the money straight away then that might be the best thing that could ever happen. Then you would recognize good from bad and the varieties and all the little details from your studies.

Just keep posting, everyone likes to look at stamps and info about them.
