Scott 98a - VF mint no gum as issued imperforate pair of the 6c engraved brown violet Lord Bacon from the 1911 Guy issue. Note interesting reverse offset on the front of the imperforate pair
I do not have 98a and covet it now. Wanna sell it? Kidding. How is the reverse offset created? at printing? or later? Great margins, I'd even suggest XF, though with imperforate's there is more grade inflation in this usage.
I have very, very few imperforate pairs, by design. Its a question of my desire to focus on segments of Newfoundland and dive deep, then move on. So for example, at present the last decade I was only buying individual mint, well centered NH single stamps for every scott number (below $1000). But I avoided imperfs altogether to allocate limited $--so I have 98 mint and used, but not your beauty.
I'm going to hold imperforates for the next decade, after I get all the first flight covers (my current focus).
WOW! Can't think of what to say except, just when you think your own collection is coming along nicely, you see a display like this. What a treat to see this all together.
