As a newbie to the forum I am not sure where to put this question. Is there anyone out there who can start a topic for perfins. I would love to learn more about perfins.

You just did it ... so continue. There are other threads on SCF containing perfin related material.

Perhaps there should be a country specific perfin topic rather than just one all-in topic seeing as most countries had some form or other of perfin stamps and there are topics within topics regarding perfins ...and quite frankly, I don't want to go thru 40 pages on the off-chance of spotting something of interest to my requirements.

Some of the people here have the ability to identify perfins to a specific company or department... so a topic called "PERFIN Identidy" might be in order, for instance. "PERFIN USA", "PERFIN GB" etc might work as well as people can subscribe to any or all.

They would typically fall in the back of book category. I collect Canada, and am no expert on perfins so any information I have is somewhat limited.

In Canada official/government use stamps were perf'ed with the initials O.H.M.S. which stand for On His Majesty's Service. Private companies were also permitted by the post office department to perforate their initials into stamps to prevent theft from their employees.
