I don't have an up-to-date catalogue but it looks like Valais "Actes Administratifs" revenue Forbin #4 from 1895. The last edition of Forbin was in 1915 so it may not tell the whole story!

There are thousands of Swiss revenues, because every canton "state" got into the act, over a period of many years. Packets of 100 common varieties sell in the $10 range.

There are at least two different catalogue options for these that are much newer than Forbin. Kelly has a 3- or 4-volume set in English, and Gainon has a set in French (I believe).

Hi Cjd,

That's interesting about Keley & Gainon. I've not seen either of these but I do have a small collection of Swiss revenues and would like to more about them, especially the later town and commune issues that are not in Forbin.

I'll look in Vera Trinder's in London when I'm next there and see if they have either for sale.

I see John Barefoot has recently published a revenue catalogue for Italy but again I haven't had a chance to look at a copy yet.

I only have a handful of Swiss revenues, so I have never given serious thought to chasing down either of them. If I ran across one at a nice price, I'd pick it up, but that seems unlikely.

I have an idea, nigelc......you can pick up one (or, preferably, both), and I'll post my examples, and everybody wins.

C.
