Or google Anthony p. Musso ! About FDRS collection...folks he did not spend much money on it...much was sent to him by world dignitaries etc.It is interesting to me that he was a HOARDER...he NEVER threw anything to do with stamps away..he must have had people filing for him because the book claims he kept every letter with a stamp that was sent to him. The VALUE of FDRS "collection" was mainly that it had belonged to FDR . I guess Elanor was a good soul..but he never won an election in his own county !

Terry now "I get it"! What a great clip with all those iconic actors!
Thanks for sharing and clarifying.

philb the ISBN will help my quest! There is a copy I believe on Amazon for a little over $100 (and it's not even signed), so you are sitting on a little gold mine (if you can get someone to buy it).

Hi kathey,

You are most welcome. Lots of clips from 'Hyde Park on Hudson' on line. I have never seen it, but I will now,

Terry

Edit for error. TC.

Kathey, I am pretty sure Anthony Musso can send you an autographed copy for 15 dollars and shipping..the book was printed by Stefano Press which is probably a small or private printing. One our stamp club members brought Anthony to our meeting for a show and tell slide presentation about FDR and several of us purchased his book..it was very entertaining. If you can not contact him, I will see what I can do. phil

Here is a quote from the film that I enjoyed:

FRANKLIN D ROOSEVELT: "When I was a young man -- before my marriage of course -- I found that showing one’s stamps was a very helpful way to get a young woman’s attention.
BERTIE (King George VI of England) "Was it?"
FRANKLIN: "They have to sit close to you. Share the magnifying glass."
He ‘winks’ at Bertie. And smiles.
"But I suppose if your father’s the king... Who needs stamps?"
--From the film Hyde Park on Hudson, script by Richard Nelson

I've used stamps to "entice and seduce a young woman". I put her image on Picture Postage and she loved it and felt like a rock star!

Hmm, I wonder why my opening line of "Hey, want to see my stamp collection?" never works?

philb, what was the falling out between Jim Farley and FDR? Never heard about that one. Always just figured he was a "suck up" to FDR with those unique philatelic items like the "Follies."

This gives a good thumbnail sketch of what happened between them.
