Here's a post office that looks as if it could use some sprucing up ... but then again, serving a population of only 225 citizens makes it rather unique that a post office even exists in such a small town:

By the way, here's a bit of postal trivia: It appears there is only a small handful of post offices across the US that have numbers used as their official town name. Anyone care to try to name some of them?

I can't remember having ever noticed the town during the two trips I've taken through there. It's a short distance from Cape Blanco, which frequently records extrememly high wind speeds. During the Columbus Day Storm of 1962, a wind gust estimated at 179mph was recorded there (the anemometer broke at 145mph).

Frankly, I'm surprised this post office is still standing!

Fifty Six, Arkansas has a post office. Founded in 1918, their name request was rejected and the town was named for school district 56. Population 173.

Forty Four is a "populated area" nearby...but don't think they have a post office. Not sure how they got their name either...

I have a cover that was postmarked in Twenty Six, Kentucky.

Ninety Six South Carolina has a post office.

Eighty Eight Kentucky has a post office...or at least they did once upon a time.

Seventy Six Kentucky has a post office I believe. It was named for a surveyor's note.

Eighty Four Pennsylvania has a post office and about 600 people.

I'm not sure what the deal is with all the towns named "something six".

Edit: Whoops...I left out Hundred, West Virginia.

Nice job! I never knew some of those locations myself until I came across the website linked below. It does give a brief summary as to how each of the towns got their "numeral" name:

Thats not too terribly far from me, If you want some Small Post offices, travel throughout Eastern Oregon.
Unfortunately it seems like alot of them were on the potential closing Offices list.
