I found these 3 stamps in a packet today in my untouched boxes. I can not seem to find these stamps in the books I have. Also I found only 2 pics of these on the Internet but sadly came with no information attached. Thanks in advance.

Scott lists these under Roman States in the Italian States section, just ahead of Italy.

Like many of the earliest stamps, most examples end up being forgeries.

The bottom 3 are definitely reprints, not sure about the top stamp.

These are from the Papal States and more information can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papal_States
Some collectors of Vatican stamps also collect stamps from the Papal States because they were ruled by the Pope.

So a proper placing would be like the Vatican in my book then correct? I wish I knew the stamp number or did they even have numbers for these? All these are on pieces of letters so I think they have been mailed so this may eliminate the forgery issue ordeal. I would love to find a forgery to have, I have the plainest collection at the moment. No special stamps at all for conversing about or interesting enough to discuss at length. That would have been a nice addition to have had. Thanks for the info there is not much information about these at all.

Depends on your book.

If you are using a printed album, then look for spots at the beginning or end of Italy. It could say Italian States, Roman States, Papal States...if they are not showing up around Italy, check those names, alphabetically.
