Why would the designs for proposed British Airmails not have included an image of the King?

Good question.
Maybe the designer was anti-royalist !
Or maybe if the design was shown to have merit, the Kings head would have adorned the final product.

Here is one from the 1943 Czechoslovak Philatelic Exhibition in Grosvenor Place,London.5 Stamp-like labels in a sheet printed in Intaglio bt Waterlow and Sons ltd. Scarce.

...and one from the Stanley Gibbons Catalogue Centenary Stamp Exhibition held at the Royal Festival Hall in 1965.
Not many of these about either !

More later.

Below are two souvenir cards which came both individually and as part of a pack along with 4 miniature sheets. All were numbered.
These are from one of the packs but I missed out on the 4 sheets as the bidding was way too high. A pity, as a numbered pack is now split up forever

These didn't cost an arm and a leg, only an arm.

Oh yes, they are from StampWorld, London '90, Alexandra Palace.

Londonbus1.....Now arm-less !

The gummed sheet by De La Rue depicts the 1882 £5 QV definitive...by De La Rue ! The sheet is based on an original Proof. One per visitor to the show, it cost them a pricey 3/- !

For this special post......a special Souvenir Sheet from Stamp World, London90.

This numbered sheet was sold seperately or in a Presentation folder of 6 items [see earlier post].
It was also sold in a larger format in the [expensive] Exhibition Programme.

South Africa National Philatelic Exhibition.

I showed one earlier; all these National Ex'n sheets appear to have the 'Stamps/labels' embossed, which I find a very nice touch.

The sheets are lovely
