There was a time when I would craftily book our annual holiday to coincide with a big Stamp Exhibition.
Wembley in April in the nineties was always my favourite and I was saddened when the 1999 show proved to be the last.

Here is a programme from 1995 and a ticket [with adverts] from 1999.

More from the Wembley shows next time.

Londonbus1....Cannot keep up with all the messages !

Nice one LB.
At our last auction, maybe two weeks ago,
I was sitting behind a bidder, who had a large tome
on his lap, probably a4 size and inch and a half thick.

"The GB seahorse"
...an amazing research just on one design of stamp.
exclusing the machin of course.

You know, Bee, that is a question that didn't occur to me. I didn't consider the possibility that it could be treated as an imperf. Of course, in 1840 one penny was under a different monetary system than today, but I suppose it could now represent a decimal penny.

Help from a current GB collector, please? Barring that, when I get home I'll see how the catalogue mentions value (20p or 21p sheet...I'll bet on 20p).

Collin

Indeed it is the very place !
This sheet was issued for the opening day of the StampWorld, London 1990 International Exhibition at the Alexandra Palace in North London.
Face value is 20p but the sheet cost a whopping £1, the rest going towards the running of the show.

No, the Penny black reproduction is not valid for postage. I have seen it being sold as a repro on ebay for tidy sums though ! Some people never learn.
It is a lovely sheet. Maybe the upcoming Exhibition sheets will rival it ? We shall see.

Yes, I suppose the S and W corners are something of a giveaway...

Thanks for the explanation of the "One Pound" inscription.

Some stuff from St.Pierre et Miquelon
Anyone know if the "9" in 1931 on the 40cent is supposed to be this way(lowered)?
Thanks
Paul
