The 1929 Barcelona International Exposition

Many Advertising labels and Poster stamps can be found for this grand Event.

More info here plus a great pic of the Exposition area which had been planned for many years. Wonderful.

Just an aside, Barcelona is a great city and well worth a visit if anyone is in Europe !

A Sheetlet of 25 2c White Plains issue was available only at the Exhibition and from the Post Office Philatelic Agency.
If anyone has a sheet, I'd love to see one posted here.

As requested:

This sheet is also generally considered the first US souvenir sheet.

I was asking for this sheet yesterday and you missed it !

I've been on the road, so I missed it too, along with quite a few other threads!

Mac had a thread on the White Plains S/S last year, and there are a few pics in there as well.

Oh! The joy of filling a gap.

I had this one in my collection already......

25,000 numbered copies of the above sheet were printed and it was cheap to buy then as it is today.

Below is what landed on my desk today. The expensive and excruciatingly scarce Light Grey-Blue version. I had never before seen a copy let alone have the chance to buy or bid. Only 500 numbered copies exist [mine is 255], all went for presentation purposes. I won it for £2.71p!
I was lucky. Also it came with it's sister explanation sheet which often got 'lost' during the collecting life of these BPE sheets.
Both are in pristine condition, not a mark to be found.

To say I am well-chuffed, is an understatement.

since it seems like this thread has somewhat drifted from World's Fair stuff into various stamp expo
stuff, I guess it's safe for me to post my latest acquisition. image is sellers, from auction. haven't
received the label yet, but due soon. daughter packed my scanner off to college with her, so I have
no idea when I will be able to get my own image made (probably not until Thanksgiving break). anyway,
here it is:

These are rarely seen by me, so I was delighted to win this strip last week, especially as it was from the top of the sheet with title header !

Produced in the USA by John Nicklin for the International Exhibition at Grosvenor House, 6-13 May, 1950. One of a set of 4 perforated or Imperf labels. Sheets of 15, margins all round.
Depicts St George and the Dragon.
