...but it does have its perks...the Postmaster General claims to own every stamp issued since 1892:

Quote:
But he lights up when discussing stamps — especially collectibles.

Donahoe owns every stamp printed since 1892. Opening a box of sheets of reprinted vintage stamps, he explains, "These are proof sheets. They're stamps, but they're not cut, so you would actually buy this for a collection."

That generates almost pure profit for the Postal Service, he notes. But the fact is: Stamp collecting isn't exactly en vogue.

I want a postal clerk job (not postmaster general) but only part-time (like 4 hours a week) because I think it will make my hobby more fun.

I had a chance to do that in 1987. Whilst in the US Navy, the Postal Clerk on our ship injured his ankle and couldn't carry the mailbags, so I got 'drafted' (pardon the pun) into the position. It was a blast putting up the USPS posters for current issues and trying to get the fellas to buy something other than those &^%$ Seashell stamps for their outgoing mail (and also having easy access to those 80's era Official mail stamps, so long as I put money in the till), but I gotta tell you.. It was a pain in the butt to go through all the audits, counting every penny and every $0.01 stamp. I can only imagine what it would be like for a 'real' postal clerk at a post office.

All told, it was kinda fun while it lasted, but I was glad when the Postal Clerk was cleared to resume duty. Those blasted mail bags were heavy!
