So, I have 5 stamps from a 10 stamp set from San Marino. I have looked around for some history, catalog #'s, etc. and haven't found much information on these stamps.

I have acquired full unused sheets of all five stamps and half sheets of all five as well. I have about 50 of each individual stamp. On ebay I have found the same stamps in the same condition for around $1-5 each.

Does anyone know what their listed value is, the history behind them, etc...

Much appreciated!

P.S.(I couldn't get a good scan of the full sheet because the scanner wasn't big enough. I will try to post a picture later if some people have some questions about it)

Interesting question. I didn't know anything about this before reading your post, but just Googled around a little bit and checked in a 2013 Scott catalog.

The entire set is Scott 736-745, and the mint never hinged 2013 catalog value is $10.75. However, most of that value is in the high-value (220 l) stamp. It looks like your stamps are the first 5 values in the set (Scott 736-740), and are valued at the minimum catalog value of $.25 each.

However, if you have intact sheets, I would definitely keep them that way, and I bet some Disney collector would be interested in them.

According to a couple of articles, these are the very first Disney stamps (with characters on them), issued in 1970. (The US stamp depicting Walt Disney himself preceded them in 1966 1968. [Walt Disney died in 1966.])

Actually, the US stamp depicting Walt Disney himself (Scott 1355) was issued in 1968 ... 09/11/1968 to be exact.

wt1: Thanks for the correction! I think I was thinking of the year of Disney's death instead.

I also like this U.S. Disney stamp Scott 1355 because it was perforated 12 by the American Bank Note Company (ABNC) instead of the usual perforated 11 by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP). Other U.S. stamps that were perforated 12 by ABNC after 1894 are Scott 909-921, 1335, 1789 (vertically), 1789B (I wish I had this stamp).
