This lot of Mexico may in fact be bigger than the actual country.

Another fun stockbook lot to wade through, either for those dark winter nights or in 15 or so years when I retire. No real heavy hitters, but I spotted a few $50-100 items as I gave it an initial perusal, not to mention potential varieties lurking.

Definitely a "quantity over quality" type of lot, but somewhat staggering in its magnitude.

I've always loved the 19th- and early 20th century engraved and overprinted Mexican issues. Great designs and scroll/lathework.

In short: Instant Mexico collection, just add water (and time).

5 volumes all told, with lots of images to load.

Hi revenuecollector

I suggest that you check out some of the early District Overprints. I worked up a Mexico lot for my friend's store and found out from a Mexico collector that some of the Distric overprints were rare and expensive.

The Scott Classic catalog has a note at the very beginning of the Mexico section advising that some of the District overprints on the early Mexican stamps command a premium. One needs to use the Follansbee catalog for Mexico to get more details.

(Dan also posted this over at the Virtual Stamp Club and he knows about the early overprints)
