Scott Classic says 10d claret, Sc#42. I'll check SG in a bit.

Gibbons is 10d maroon, and also mentions an (unpriced) watermark-inverted listing, so it is worth checking. (Yeah, I might not, either, but I'd probably feel a bit guilty about it...)

B53 is the cancel for the Port Louis post office, so everything looks perfectly normal.

Thanks, Cjd. I just checked the wm. and it is crown cc, not inverted! :)

Sorry to hear that.

In any event, you have a nice stamp.

For no good reason, I went looking for more information on the B53 cancel, and found this site, which mentions six types:

http://www.philatepat.net16.net/index.php?p=1_12

Is this a great hobby, or what?

name of that page - philatepat - sounds like a serious condition more than like a hobby! be careful! :)

it is nice when you can dedicate yourself for only one country (preferable small as Mauritius) and can go in these details...

Well, I'm pretty sure all of us have a serious condition. And I'm pretty sure our spouses/significant others would agree.

It would probably be nice to want to specialize in a small country, but Mauritius would be right up there with British Guiana in the list of small countries where the first ten stamps will set you back something in the neighborhood of a small beachfront villa in your chosen country. Maybe even a large beachfront villa.

But I get your point.
