Here's an interesting magazine ad stepping back in time to 1967 when the AMC Ambassador Sedan (with RH Drive) was apparently fleet purchased by the USPOD for mail delivery:

You know, the 2013 Europa theme is "the postman van." Ifyou check out this year's Europa stamps, you'll see postal vehicles from around the world.

Did they ever actually use these as postal vehicles?

If you're referring to the 1967 AMC Ambassador, they certainly did use them as US Post Office vehicles back in the day. Some had RH drive, others did not. There were 3768 ordered for the US Government (post office) at a time when AMC was hurting financially. I suppose it was part of a 1960s "government bailout".

Canada Post has some trucks with right hand drive that they use. You see them around occasionally.
Though the rural delivery in my area is still done by CP employees in their own vehicles. A lot of reaching over!

I never knew that the USPOD used RH vehicles. This is new information to me as well.

The USPS also used RH drive Subaru Legacy Wagons into the 1990s, too! Most were delegated to rural delivery routes as noted by this newspaper article from 1992:
