When I tore open floorboards in our house, built 1900. I found this stamp, I don`t know when it got there so it made me curious.

I found a simular stamp from 1957, but with one big diference, the one I found was a 10F.http://www.timbres-de-france.com/co...?ligne=1115A

Please enlighten me.

take care.

Hello Jemmie 29, welcome to Stamp Community!

I found it on ebay Worldwide.
Your stamp is stained (looks like anyway) and thus devalued by that damage. Used is less than new (mint or neuf in French).

France 1959 catalogue Yvert et Tellier (French) #1231.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRANCE-MOIS...em27d494e855

Normal value is minimal, or 10c to 20c for a good copy.

The cancellation or cancel is from Pl.Grimaldi or Place Grimaldi in Nice, France. Not sure of the dating on it though. Neat!

A slight adjustment to "10c to 20c" -- try 1c. Or less. But still an odd find for "under the floorboards".

Welcome to the forum Jennie

The stamp you found is NOT the same one that is in the url you provided. The one in the url has a face value of 10 Francs, but the one you found under the floor boards is 10 centimes. This stamps was mass produced and it is a definitive type used for postage rate make up etc. To be honest, it would be hard to get a buyer for it because practically every collector of France or WW would have it.

Hope this helps?

For the sake of accuracy, there's very little difference between the two - it was simply the re-issue after the currency change, so in theory, little or no change in denomination. The 10F is #833A, the 0.10 is #939; used, they are worth the same, practically zero. Mint, the 10F a little higher.
