Hi Everyone,
I had an auction for a variety of German stamps and received the comment below and since I don't know much about the German stamps, how can you tell he difference between east, west, Nazi, Weimar and other German stamps?

Comment:
"East Germany, West Germany, Nazi Germany, the Weimar Republic, 1920's thru 1970's. I'd say you pretty much covered Germany Sue"

Thank you!

Up to 1990 West Germany put Deutsche Bundespost on their stamps (Deutsche Bundespost Berlin for...you guessed it, West Berlin). East Germany stamps have DDR or Deutsche Demokratische Republik on them. After reunification all German stamps are simply labeled Deutschland.
Weimar and Third Reich stamps have Deutsches (or Grossdeutsches) Reich on them.
There's a whole lot more (occupation, locals etc.) but these are the basics I guess.
