The problem would be that I don't see anyway that is verified. A cover dated to the actually place and time would be better. Smoke damage isn't enough as I've had collections that survived a house fire that smelled of smoke - the edges of the pages were even burnt. The stamps would need some sort of documentation that could be certified.
