I came across this souvenir sheet issued to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Egypt and the PR of China.

What strikes me is that this sheet is offered to various auctions as being extremely rare, with a supposed c.v. of 80 euros, while it is listed in Michel for just 1.40 euro (Block 92) and in Scott for $1.10 (#1975c). Yet there is a different sheet with lentricular printing that is listed in Michel as Block 93 for € 200, but is unlisted in Scott.

Does anyone know more about this sheet and how rare it really is?

I heard that a lot of these sheets were presented as a gift from China to many of the countries that they invest in. They hold an elaborate ceremony for the presentation of these sheets etc.

Some countries (with lack of philatelic knowledge) do not treat these as postage stamps when they receive these gifts from China. In the end they treat them as a "national gift" and keep the whole stock of stamps in their Museum or Archives.

Of course, China keeps some of these Souvenir Sheets for themselves, thus a lot of these end up with Chinese dealers.

I heard the Djibouti sheet that was printed by China is very hard to get too.
