On another topic, someone urged me to keep posting images of new items for my Newfoundland collection. Hope no one objects...

Here is a back of the book item, just acquired.

Its U2 (or EN6 in the NSSC)--a Blue five cent envelope. Its 140mm x 78mm for those who care. I'm happy because the seller unwittingly had it misclassified, so I could it at what I consider a good price. ebay (which is not typical for me, but hey).

I have not yet put this under the magnifier to see if its Bell Island, CB or Bell Island Front or Bell Isle Mines or Bell Island (Wabana) CB (all different post offices).

No B/S and I was drawn to her because of her simplicity of just "Controller" and the abbreviated "S Johns".

Nice stationery item Tommy

Some of the old Newfoundland cancellations can be quite a challenge.

I noticed that some of them have long names crammed into a little space and that can make it quite difficult to determine where it is from at times. All worth the research and quite a challenge though.

Thanks, I believe it is "Bell Island NFLD" and a mirrored, top-bottom split ring cancel (without the typical NFLD or variant at the bottom)

I need to dig out more history on the cancel types from April 12, 1937.
