Hi Guys, this might be a long post, sorry.

I have decided to open my 1980-2012 collection of annual PO issues.

They are sitting sealed now and when I look at them I thought it was time to enjoy them. Getting older and thought why not ???

Question. It seems like up until 1998 the collection included the souvenir sheets. After that it is hit and miss, some there some not.
Anyone know the answer to that? thanks in advance.

Question. I have what is called the millennium collection that does not included any souvenir sheets ( I think there is 17) Why not???
Were these packaged differently in another collection? money grab...

Also the PO offered another annual collection called the year 2000,is this the same as the millennium collection with a different cover but the same contents? It is still available at the PO and I an hoping that it might include the souvenir sheets.

The annual collections keep getting more expensive but seem to include less stamps. I am probably missing some valuable info on these annual books.

Can someone point me in the correct direction to obtain those millennium souvenir sheets ( ebay I guess) And how many were issued? I think I have counted 17.

Thanks.

Hi xyyz,

There are indeed 17 Millennium Collection Souvenir Sheets of 4 stamps (Sc #1818-1834). Those are no more available at Canada Post, of course. And I don't think you will have those souvenir sheet in any book. I bought once the "Millennium Collection Book" and saw that this was a special printing of the stamps, one per page. Stamps are perforated and I guess that I could remove them from the book to "use" them...

I never bought the annual collection books... I rather goes with the quarterly packs. I am not sure if it is really different stamps in both, but I guess that since the book have place to display "history" of the stamp subject, then it will be less frequent to have souvenir sheet due to the space it require. In most case, the souvenir sheet will be in the quarterly packs, with exceptions of special edition, like the Queen Elizabeth II jubilee that were sold in separate packs or the 2010 Olympic souvenir sheets with special overprint.

From Canada Post, you can still buy quarterly pack from 2006 I think.

It was not answering all of your questions, but I still hope it will help you.

I can add that some versions of stamps are only available in the quarterly packs (eg. die-cut to shape).

Here is a great reference.

https://www.adminware.ca/esg/corgitimes/corgi.php

The issues of "Corgi Times" are free to download up to about 2006. Each issue includes great info, and in this case, a total of every Souvenir sheet, stamp version for each year.

Join for access to the newer issues. It is very inexpensive for access (I think about $6?)

Hi xyyz
The millennium collection was first issued in September 1999 by Canada Post selling 200,000 hardbound books for about $60.00 each. Stamp catalogues were hesitant to recognize the issue because of the limited edition and the excessive surcharge - the stamps were worth $31.28. Thus, Canada Post reissued the collection of 68 stamps in a 4-stamp pane format over a three month period (Dec 1999 - Feb 2000).

I doubt if any of the hardbound books are still in stock with CP and what stock they have would not contain any of the millennium collection.

Thanks for the great info guys. I do have the 1999 addition of the collection and found it disappointing to say the least. The stamps were in a punch form (don't know the correct style) and unlike all the other annuals had no place to actually place the stamps.
The second 2000 addition looks like that normal format with a different cover. It is still available at the PO, I ordered on on Thursday and it is on the way. I hope it is what I expect from these books.
I found the 17 souvenir millennium sheets on ebay for a pretty good price so I bought them.
