What Floortrader was stating is that they might fetch a buck or 2 tops due to condition. This is what the Blue should look like and this one's only worth a few bucks. The White line under "Postage and above "Two Pence" takes it out of the money.

"ok, if my collection has 1000's of stamps, how and where do I get a REAL CERTIFICATE stating the quality for them? How do I get them graded that will be ligit? Does this mean I have to pay for grading?"

I suspect most of your stamps aren't worth getting certified (getting certs isn't cheap - somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 a stamp). There are two kinds of certs. Stanard ones tell you the proper ID of the stamp and whether it has any faults (flaws). Or you can get a graded cert, which also takes into account the centering of the stamp. Grading doesn't cost any extra, but you can't get just a grade without all the rest. The quality of the two GB stamps you pictured were below VF and VF is usuall the absolute minimum you would want for a stamp to be to get it graded.

i guess this is the end of this post. I am disappointed in what I have, don't want to post anymore. Sorry I don't have money to flaunt and say I GOT THIS ... not a hobby for a working person.

That is one of the most untrue statements I have ever heard in 25 years of collecting stamps.
If Stamps were only for those with money, then there would be no hobby !
Get real.
I have no spare cash in my life but I still manage to enjoy my hobby to the full and a forum like this is one way to do it.
You started this thread and got others invloved who were trying to help....and for what ?
Your last post just about summed it all up for me.

Not embarrassed at all, just depressed. I don't have the money to keep it up, wanted to sell it to help out, (being a disabled vet doesn't pay well)and if everyone on here is buying stamps then they have to buy from someone else...I figured with as large as the collection is, something would be sellable.

Greenlant408,
I believe I can understand your frustration and disappointment. It appears that the collection is not what you thought it would be, and that is certainly not all that unusual these days.

I urge you to put the collection up for auction on ebay (or other online site). Assuming it has some real value, I would break it down by country (or countries) which would likely maximize your return. This way you could more easily highlight the higher end stamps, and get them the attention they deserve. If the value is truly there, it will be recognized.

Take care,
Mobilman44

Do not be disappointed, you might just have a few Gems and the Columbian Proofs you have whether on card or India paper still are worth some decent money. If you have any US 1850's - 1870 material you still might do OK. In Stamps condition is everything ! Since this is a supply and demand thing the supply far outweighs the demand and the value of Stamps has suffered because of this.

The Early US Classics will always hold their value for the most part. Hang in there, get your collection back from this investment broker and start doing some research. We are always here to help anyone with that research but in the same turn we are truthful and that is always the best policy.
