Oh my goodness... so, this case law just turned up when I googled "John Mercaldi": United States v. Eppolito
Quote:
Lombardozi introduced Corso to John Mercaldi, who ran a prostitution business in Las Vegas and described himself as the right-hand man to Jerry Chili, the apparent successor to leadership of the Bonanno Crime Family. Corso subsequently had conversations with Chili, who told Corso to say he was "with Jerry from the Fulton Fish Market" (Tr. 1423). Mercaldi thereafter introduced Corso to others as "'with us'" and "'very good friends with Jerry.'" (Tr. 1425.) In the spring of 2003, Corso began wearing a wire to record his conversations with members of organized crime.

Mercaldi introduced Corso to Gambino Crime Family member Michael Dibari; Mercaldi and Dibari introduced Corso to John Frate. John Frate's father, to whom Corso was also introduced, was Mike Frate, who identified himself as the right-hand man to Joe Bonanno, the then-head of the Bonanno Crime Family.

Keep in mind that this does not mean that the John Mercaldi mentioned in the court opinion is the same man associated with Stanford Myers.

*Edited to clean up weird html tags in the block quote.

ok, if my collection has 1000's of stamps, how and where do I get a REAL CERTIFICATE stating the quality for them? How do I get them graded that will be ligit?

Does this mean I have to pay for grading?

Does an auction house do that?

Stanford Myers Investment Group has only been in business for 6 years according to the D&B listing for the firm. I checked out the latest address on Google maps and they do occupy second story office space in a small plaza of stores in Las Vegas as shown here:

I've read a couple of web comments about the firm and apparently they deal not only in stamps and coins, but other investments as well. The success of a relatively new company is the question and that may also explain why the firm hasn't been heard of much in philatelic circles.

Having no knowledge of the track record of a relatively new company would suggest that one exercise caution.

Good for you on the proofs. I don't know I have never sold my high values stamps thus it really is a learning issue. Before I do anything I would talk to a few auction houses. And by that I mean far more than one. It appears you have enough value to generate interest so that is a plus. I did see some suggestions listed. They have the experience on selling high value stamps and they should be able to give advice if you should have the stamps graded and authenticated.

I will leave this open for those that have the experience of working with high value collections to give you much better advice than I can.

Both British stamps would sell for a small fraction of catalog ,due to both stamps are less than fine and the design has been cut into .

After I get the stamps back and somehow get the authenticated with certs I'm getting them sold asap. All this commotion is too much. I'm not able to continue collecting to add more to them. And my previous post says it all.

Thanks for all the good information from everyone on what I need to do.
